Mary Brighton, Staff Writer
Freshman Mary Brighton is a staff writer for the MHS Mentor who joined this year.
Mary is 14 years old and she is on the Marlins Swim Team. She started swimming for them this summer and has met many friends.
“There’s a lot of really nice people on the swim team,” Brighton said. “I’m excited for high school swim for sure.”
She started swimming at Genesis because it keeps her active and she really enjoys it.
“I kind of needed something to do over the summer but it just ended up kind of becoming my sport,” Brighton said.
She recommends trying out swimming even if you’ve never been on a swim team before. She thinks that if you’re wanting to try it, to start out with swim lessons, join a team, get a membership and workout. She also says to not get discouraged if it’s challenging and to keep going.
“I would definitely recommend it because you don’t have to be like a star or anything,” Brighton said.
