Ross Lynch, known for his roles on Dinsey Channel and as the lead singer of The Driver Era, performed at Kansas State University on Friday, April 11, at Bramlage Coliseum.
“It’s pretty cool he had a chance to come to Manhattan and have a chance to grow his fans.” junior Peyton Berry said.
The concert, organized by the Union Program Council (UPC), featured music from The Driver Era’s upcoming album, “Obsession” released the same day of the concert.
The Driver Era, formed by Lynch and his brother Rocky Lynch in 2018, gained popularity with their debute single “Preacher Man” and albums like “X” and “Summer Mixtape.” Their music is made up of upbeat rhythms, attracting a dedicated fanbase.
Before forming The Diver Era, Lynch was part of the pop band R5 and starred in Disney Channel’s “Austin & Ally” and “Teen Beach Movie”. He later took on more mature roles, such as portraying Jeffrey Dahmer in “My Friend Dahmer” and Harvey Kinkle in Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”.
“I think that was such a nice experience getting to see someone who I used to look up to be able to perform in the town I live in.” Berry said.
The UPC in collaboration with the K-State Student Union, Union Governing Board and Student Governing Association. The groups aim to bring engaging events to the campus community. Having a big star like Lynch come to Manhattan is a great way for the town to get recognized and have even more stars come to Kansas.
“It felt kind of unreal because Manhattan seems like a small town and it’s weird thinking someone that big would come here to perform.” junior Madi Springer said.
