This year, Thespians have decided to move Improv Night from Friday nights to Monday nights.
“Friday, you get a lot of people who just want to go home after a week,” vice president Jack Farrell, junior, said. “…And it made it less of a fun experience to go to and more of an, ‘oh, I have to go do this.’ And that’s not at all what it should be.”
Improv Night involves many things like playing games and acting together.
“It’s mainly a bunch of just games and just messing around for the most part,” treasurer Jaden Wataha, junior, said.
Thespians Improv night is not just for those who are members of the Thespian club, but anyone who would like to join is welcome to attend.
“I’m like a huge theater kid, improv is really fun because it gives you a chance to be silly and express yourself,” freshman Malia Barley said. “So just joining Thespians, I feel like I’d be with a lot of people that I know and am friends with.”
First time members of Thespians Club will also be given free pancakes in their first meeting together.
“Honestly, to me, it is such a good community [to be a part of]. Everyone in there is just there to have fun, have a great time. And also, it gives you a lot of fun opportunities,” Farrell said.
Thespian members also look forward to their fall play and musical, “Little Shop of Horrors.” The musical follows a greenhouse worker who finds an alien plant and is promised fame in exchange for blood.
“…doing a show like ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’ will be incredible,” president Julianna da Silva, senior, said. “The music, the set, the plant, the people just make the hours and hours of rehearsal worth it.”
Musical auditions are open to all students. There are only 13 roles available but many other positions on the theater staff and dancing roles.
“I’ve kind of just been on the stage and also back behind the scenes a lot,” Wataha said.
The main roles from auditions are as follows.
Seymour: Micah Pape
Audrey: Ella Chase
Mr. Mushnik: Graham Brueseke
Orin: Darragh Campbell
Audrey II: Bryce Hutchinson
