The officers of Tribe have been at work since summer planning school events that will be fun and exciting for everyone, and the newly introduced morning pep rallies are one way Tribe can get everyone thrilled for the upcoming school events.
“My main job is just to overlook everything and help people out,” president Ella Billinger, senior, said. “We decide all the games and ideas. I also meet with admin and talk to them about what they do and whatnot.”
Tribe must also quickly spread the word about the pep rallies and other events through their social media page and other promotional strategies.
“Yeah, usually on social media, we just spend time making posters, flyers or announcements or events that go on with Tribe,” social media co-manager Ellie Fahey, senior, said.
Sharing these special moments with the school is also important because students or admin may have missed some funny or serious moments and wouldn’t be able to relive these times without the help of the social media team.
“Usually, we take pictures on our school iPads to post on social media after school,” Fahey said. “We typically post them on Instagram, highlights from the pep rally, cheers that we might have done, games that we might have played, or the fun times that we had during it.”
They also spread the word verbally, with many of the Tribe officers having connections all around the school. Social media co-manager Jakobee Fitzgerald, senior, for example, likes to ask his peers what their favorite part of the pep rally was and how they can improve for the next one.
Planning and promotions are not all that make a pep rally successful. Tribe aims to include everyone in their events by letting people volunteer themselves for games, cheering everyone on when they participate, trying new and fun exciting chants and making these events feel like home.
Putting all of these elements together is the hardest part of school activities, but Tribe executed this pep rally to the best of their abilities, from playing games with the student, such as a race to pop balloons and who can shake their ping pong balls out of their box the fastest, having everyone engage in chants, helping everyone to learn the new chants and remember the old ones, to having everyone participate despite the change in schedule to have the pep rally early in the morning.
The pep rallies tribe plans not only gets the students excited for upcoming school events, but brings all of the students together.
“I love watching Manhattan High School all come together, especially this being our last year, just trying to go out strong and as fun as we can,” activity director Kat Ball, senior, said.
