“Spreading awareness is a big deal,” Duell said.
Senior and IPS student, Jaiya Duell, is determined to make a change and spread awareness.
Duell has a lot of experience with communication. She went on a mission trip in Ghana, West Africa where she helped special needs adults and learned about Ghana culture.m
“I gained some experience from that and I’m knowledgeable enough to be an asset in the class,” Duell said.
IPS is hosting a Sanfilipino Awareness Day on November 16th. To support the awareness day IPS is encouraging everyone to wear purple and to meet someone new. Sanfilipino is a childhood Alzheimer’s that affects someone’s day to day life. Seniors and IPS students, Alejandra Parma and Leah Herring both are on board with the planning of the awareness day and are big contributors on helping with the Crisis Center Donation stand at every football game.
“We have volunteers or teachers that stand out there on Friday nights,” Said Parma.
The center has been open since 1979 and has helped over 3800 individuals. They are always open to taking donations of money and canned goods so if you would like to donate the stand is always open at the football games and anyone there is willing to tell you more about the crisis center.
“We have volunteers just to catch others and tell them about the crisis center,” Parma said.
