Electronic Arts is finally listening to what we want in a “Battlefield” game. After the flop “Battlefield 2042” the approach to “Battlefield” games is finally lining up with what gamers would like to be for the “Battlefield” games. “Battlefield 6” has already far surpassed “Battlefield” 2042 in sales and player count.
Singleplayer for “Battlefield 6” has a good variety of combat situations that players can explore but doesn’t have a great storyline if the players don’t understand military lingo. In the campaign, you play mostly as an engineer named Murphy. Murphy tries hard to keep his team together as Pax attacks NATO forces and buildings. The story is presented in an odd way going back and forth between present time and in the past. You get to play a few different characters throughout the campaign but follow the same team of Haz Carter, Dylan Murphy, Simone “Gecko” Espina, Cliff Lopez and Lucas Hemlock. Under the command of Mills, the team goes through many operations to attack Pax and protect locations and even the president. The campaign had many missions that felt similar in gameplay, but had a few diamonds within the sand that stood out. My personal favorite was the second to last mission where you play as Gecko and are free to choose where and how you are destroying Pax’s com links. Gecko carries a sniper and drone for this mission which allows the player to identify the best way to get to the com links to destroy them. Overall, I enjoyed watching the character development and seeing the progression of the story despite how short it was compared to other “Battlefield” campaigns.
The multiplayer has various different modes but the one most will play is called Conquest. Conquest is a domination type game mode a team wins when the other team loses all their forces or they capture all the points and hold it for a minute. There are a number of maps in conquest that allow for many different types of game play. On Manhattan Bridge for example there are little to no vehicles and forces players to work more with their squads to push into different zones to gain the advantage. There is also a map that does quite the opposite of Manhattan Bridge called Operation firestorm which has every vehicle in the game.
Overall, this game is so much more enjoyable for individuals who played the older games and is more standard for what a “Battlefield” game looks like. I really enjoyed the game from what I have played and look forward to spending many more hours playing this game.
