Bowling team prepares for upcoming season

Fall sports have come to an end and winter sports are making their way to take over. Bowling being one of those sports will begin their tryouts on Nov. 27-29.

“I hope to improve on my scores, hopefully until at least an average of 200 or more,” senior Michael Moran said.

Moran has been bowling for just over six years now along with it being his fourth year in high school bowling. He has grown to love the sport and hopes to bowl in college as well.

With there being an expected decrease in players this year, Moran hopes that there will be a bigger turnout at tryouts.

“It would be great to see people come and fill in those spots,” Moran said. “Bowling is not one of the main sports people focus on, but it’d be great if we could also get more publicity or recognition, along with more spectators.”

To prepare and practice, the members of the team will sometimes participate in tournaments at Little Apple Lanes.

“I’m always in a bowling league of some kind or participating in a league they offer at Little Apple Lanes,” Moran said. “It’s constant practice, practice, practice.”

Along with expectations, Moran and the previous team also have some goals they would like to achieve.

“Last year, we succeeded at going to state, and I plan to work hard to go again and take home [a] first state win for Manhattan High Bowling,” Moran said.
