Jonas Brothers reunion exciting, new

There are certain things in life that are decent all on their own, but when they come together it’s like a burst of magic. It’s impossible not to think “How could we have never noticed just how perfect it is that these fit together” once you try it. Peanut butter and chocolate are a classic example; by themselves, we all like it, but together, the flavors work like they were intended to only be tasted together.

Likewise, the Jonas Brothers have made themselves into peanut butter and chocolate. We all got a snippet of their talent as kids through their Disney careers, but they eventually grew into the solo artists we now know and love. No one expected a reunion single, but I guess with time comes a top hit capable of reaching #1 on YouTube only hours after its release last Friday.

“Sucker” is the first single and music video the trio released since their break-up five years ago and it all pays tribute to their leading ladies. Priyanka Chopra, Sophie Turner and Danielle Jonas joined the boys as the cast of the video, which currently has six million views and counting.

The song itself incorporates the current sounds of modern music while also bringing back a bit of their old sound for a little sample of nostalgia. For people who grew up on that sound, this song is a godsend.

The boys feel likewise about their reunion, glad to be back together and doing what they love.

Joe Jonas took to Twitter to say, “We really had the best time shooting this video in England with our family. Hope you guys love it. Feels good to be back.”

And feels good it does. The song starts with Nick singing on top of a beat and a baseline, transitioning the next line to Joe. The two brothers then harmonize together while Kevin comes in with a snazzy chord progression on his guitar.

They continue this pattern throughout the song, while appealing the visual aspect with an English aesthetic almost like “Alice in Wonderland.” Their costume design was colorful and grand, reflecting their fun and exciting sides. Never has a sound matched so perfectly with the video accompanied by it.

Of course, a reunion that has now turned into a reality that once could only be dreamed of has sparked a large response from other celebrities as well. As per usual, YouTuber Emma Chamberlain tweeted, “Time to bring my Jonas brothers merch out of retirement.”

On the off chance that none of you have a “Camp Rock” poster, well, it seems as if she’s taken care of it for you.

Nick said it best when he sang, “You say the word and I’ll go anywhere blindly.” Not literally, of course, but whatever they choose to do next is something I’ll support. It’s clear that Nick, Joe and Kevin have created a new label for themselves, not just as brothers but as a band. What we can further expect from them, I can’t say, but what I can tell you is what they have now is definitely worth listening to.
