Two Manhattan High School debate team members made it into the top 32 in the Kansas State High School Activities Association State Debate Tournament on Jan. 13-14. 

Sophomores Mian Zhao and Ethan Xin advanced to the top 32 in the tournament. Other debaters included juniors Kate Ward and Sydney Vahl and sophomores Salina Wang, Patrick Fu and Kylie Kim, who competed in the 9 team Round Robin after being recognized as runners-up at Regionals. Sophomore Kennedy Crabtree and junior Helinna Bontrager competed in the 2-Speaker Division. 

“We won with a 1,232 score,” Zhao said. “It was a satisfying way to end the year.”s
