Last Friday night, Manhattan High Thespians had a “coffeehouse” event, at which any student who wanted to stop by and show their talent could, if they brought a dollar or food.

While students presented their talents, members of the audience were able to get snacks and drink coffee or soda. Students who attended participated enthusiastically, and had a variety of talents to showcase; students sang, played instruments, acted and more.

“It was an extremely fun night. We need more people to participate. My favorite part was the improvised experimental piece,”  junior Savannah Smith said.

Most who attended the event also performed a talent and shared in the excitement and supportive atmosphere of the night.

Students had a lot of fun this night and sharing their talents and food.

“This was an exceptionally funny night with unexpected acts. My favorite part of the night was laughing with everyone,” senior Madeline Wilson, Thespian club president, said.

For the performers of the evening, the Thespian coffeehouse served as way of self-expression in a comfortable environment, centered around positivity and surrounded by supporters.

“It has been a very fun and interesting night,” sophomore Emma Kellogg said. “I love the aspect of it that makes me feel comfortable to be myself, and I love how you do something random and everyone loves it.”
