The Manhattan Indians softball team (6-10) split their double-header against Seaman 1-1 on April 30 at Twin Oaks Sports Complex. In the first game, the Indians were left scoreless in the first five innings and trailed 1-0 going into the sixth inning. In the sixth, the Indians rallied with back-to-back home runs, a two-run home run from freshman Josie Alesana, who also pitched the whole game and a solo homer from sophomore Gracen Neitzel.
“I think it got everyone very excited and pumped up,” Neitzel said.
The Indians won the game 3-1.
The energy didn’t carry over to game 2, where the Indians were mercy-ruled 16-0, with game ending in the third inning
The Indians have three more double-headers this season, all within four days of each other, at Emporia on May 12, the following day for senior night against Washburn Rural at home and at Hays on May 15.
