The Manhattan High School sophomore class has reached an exciting moment, as any students planned were inducted on Monday into the National Honor Society.
NHS membership is an important honor that not only recognizes academic excellence but also leadership, service and character qualities that these students have demonstrated throughout their time at Manhattan High.
For sophomores, the NHS induction wasn’t only represented as just an award, it’s more like a symbol of their hard work and dedication to not only achieving personal success but also lifting up others along the way. This early in their high school careers, many of these students have already shown an impressive commitment to making a difference in their school and community.
Sophomore Ava Connell says there are many skills that helped her achieve this goal and have this opportunity.
“I maintained organized and made sure I was on top of things and knowing what was going on around me so that I could complete my things on time,” Connell said.
Many of the students who attended the NHS induction were very excited and had many different emotions, including the excitement they felt they knew it was going to come with many different opportunities that come with the club.
“I heard that it was like a good organization to join from my upperclassmen friends and it sounded like it,” sophomore Delaney Saucier.
These new members balanced their coursework, extracurricular activities and even possibly community service projects all while maintaining the honor and character that NHS stands for. For many, this induction is the first of many accomplishments to come, as it serves as a foundation for their continued growth as leaders and active citizens.
“I’m feeling very excited for this opportunity and a fun thing to be able to do,” Connell said.
As these sophomores continue their journey in high school, their induction into NHS marks the beginning of a new chapter. They now have many opportunities to further develop their leadership skills, contribute to their communities, and inspire their peers. These students are not only examples of what it means to be a student at MHS, but also what it means to be a responsible, caring leader in the world.
With their impressive work ethic, dedication to service, and commitment to high standards, we have no doubt that the sophomore class inductees into NHS will continue to lead by example and make an impact on the lives of others throughout their high school years and beyond.
