Interact Club just wrapped up a new activity where Manhattan High clubs could come together to raise money with a new kind of fundraiser.
Last week Interact Club worked with other clubs to raise funds for the community by raffling clever gift baskets. Senior Ashlyn Dobson, president, came up with the idea for the fundraiser service event to make a big whole group project. Each club sold as many raffle tickets as they could, with the club that sold the most collecting all of the proceeds to donate to the community charity of their choice.
“What we really want with the raffle is to have everybody working together and getting everybody interested about what other clubs are doing,” Dobson said. “There aren’t a lot of overlaps in the clubs we have and I think there should be more connection, so in doing this raffle I just want everybody to have fun.”
Interact Club does a lot of activities to help the environment, benefit the community and bring everyone together. They have food drives, host elective tables, read books to elementary schools and build free libraries at MHS. Interact’s main goal is to show leadership. As president of Interact, Dobson’s job is to develop a schedule for everyone to do a lot of individual projects to build their confidence.
In running the raffle project, Dobson hopes to show her willingness to work with other clubs and collaborate with others. She want to have connections between together and the raffle
“This event helps all the clubs interact with each other and engage in new ideas.,” Dobson said.
