How often do you dance?

I have classes four days per week. I’m enrolled in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical and I’m also on Senior Company, which is our competition team.

When did you decide to start dancing and why?

I first started dancing when I was four years old. It first sparked an interest in me when I saw this professional ballerina dancing, and I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. I’ve been dancing ever since.

What do you like most about dancing?

When I’m dancing, it’s one of the seldom times I feel like I can express myself. When you can connect with the music and let go of everything else on your mind, it’s the best feeling.

What do you want readers to know about dancing?

There’s so much more to dancing than meets the eye. When dancers are performing they make the movements seem effortless and simple, when in reality it requires a lot of effort and time to perfect them. It’s both a sport and an art, and you have to work really hard to be successful, but the result of that work is definitely worth it to me.
