Two-first place finishes and a more than a successful season. Eldon Picou, only being a junior, has excelled and risen, not only in the sport of Wrestling, but also academically emerging as an example of what it means to be a good student-athlete. Last week Picou was awarded the “KMAN Student Athlete of the Week” Award for his great performance in the Blue Valley Northwest Invitational that Manhattan won. Picou pinned all of his opponents and placed first in the competition.

“I was really surprised and proud that I won. Yeah I was surprised and people came to congratulate me and saying I won and I didn’t know,” Picou said.

Picou (27-3) will wrestle in the 285 lbs. division and will wrestle tomorrow in the Basehor-Linwood dual.

“I hope I can go out there and win” Picou said.

Picou was a sophomore when he joined the Varsity and he hasn’t stopped since.

“ I’m focused on Regionals before State. I want to place top 4” Picou said.
