Coffee House encourages creativity

Salute to Broadway is coming right around the corner. The traditional Coffee House, hosted by Thespians, gave students performing during Salute an opportunity to practice their acts. Apart from practicing, students were welcome to perform anything they wanted, from singing their favorite song to sharing a good memory.

“It’s not necessarily merging it with Salute to Broadway practice,” senior Thespian president Emma Galitzer said. “It’s just to give people a good, safe and comfortable place to practice.”

This was the last Coffee House of the year. Thespian club officers started planning it last week. The cost to enter the event was $2 or food to share with everybody. That night, the black box theater was full, with a mix of both freshman and upperclassmen.

“I think is important to come because you can encourage your friends to do something positive,” senior Olivia Groninger said. “Some kids are out there and they are causing trouble all over the town, but we are here and we are reading poems and we are doing monologues and we are having fun, kids get to eat food. It’s a great time.”

The Coffee House seemed to have been a success, starting right after school and ending at 5 p.m.

The Coffee House performers received positive reviews from students as well.

“I love that is really chill,” freshman Grace Franky said. “It’s nice to have a nice time, chill out and eat food.”
