Girls tennis hopes for bonding

The start of any season comes with the hope of the team making it to state and advancing as a team. Although the girls tennis team has that goal, it also hopes to bond and improve.

“I think that we actually will have a pretty good team this next year,” junior Neely Joyce said. “There are a lot of talented upcoming freshman that are going to be a great addition to the team. Most of our players from last year are returning and I think we have a good chance of doing quite well this year. It’s the second year with Coach Ingram as our coach so I think that we have the opportunity to really bond as a team this upcoming year as well.”

Despite having so many returners, the team also has several new players.

“There are a lot of talented young new players who are joining the team,” Joyce said. “We’re going to try our hardest to play better every match and really grow as a team and individual players this year.”

The first match of the season will be against Topeka High at 3:30 p.m. on August 30 here.
