The Manhattan High School Choir kicked off the year with its first concert at Manhattan High in Rezac Auditorium last Wednesday. All the groups combine sang a total of 15 songs.

The choir has dedicated a lot of time to prepare for the concert.

“We’ve been working on those song for a very long time. I think it all came together tonight,” senior Sydney Morrison said.

Due to the block scheduling at MHS, the choir was not able to rehearse for the concert the day of the performance. But according to the performers, that didn’t have a negative impact on the show.

“It went really, really well,” senior Emily Augustine said.

Senior Trey Hafen agreed.

“I feel like the concert went really good for our first concert,” he said.

For freshman Nathan Paukstelis, it was his first high school performance.

“It’s been a very good start to the year and I hope it goes on,” he said.

The vocal music area has many strong voices that will continue to perform throughout the year at various events.

“The choir has a strong group this year,” senior Kaylee Fritchen said. “I’m excited for the months to come.”
