Netflix welcomes Fall with new releases

Taylor Bullock, Staff Writer

With autumn finally here, favorite fall activities are piquing many students interests, from enjoying pumpkin spice lattes to hitting all the haunted houses in the state with friends. Other students would much rather stay at home and enjoy Netflix.

Whether you’re into thrillers, comedies or dramas, Netflix has something for you.

“I’d like to quit thinking of the present, like right now, as some minor insignificant preamble to something else.”

If that quote rings a bell, you’re likely a lover of underrated classics. “Dazed and Confused” is one of the many iconic films of the ‘90s recently added by Netflix. It covers all viewpoints of high school, from the freshman to the seniors. The movie follows students through the last day of school and the night to follow. “Dazed and Confused” has it all: the drama, the love and the partying of the ‘70s. It’s a great film to add to your watch list.

For those into series about mysterious epidemics, there’s a new show for that too. “Containment” is an American drama tv series available on Netflix on the 21st. The series revolves around a sudden epidemic outbreak in Atlanta. The outbreak leaves a number of people quarantined and journalist Leo, played by Trevor St. John, to uncover the truth.

Also coming in late October is Netflix original, “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives In the House.” The movie is centered around a young nurse who scares easily. In her case it shouldn’t be too hard, considering the dark secrets within the film. She ends up caring for an unwell horror novelist in a house that may be haunted.

With the weather cooling down, this is the perfect time to get your friends together and hang out watching new series such as “Stranger Things,” the original Netflix series written by Matt and Ross Duffer. It follows the disappearance of a pre-teen boy and the help of a telekinetic girl named Eleven, along with other unusual happenings in the town. It’s a bit of a thriller and is perfect if you plan on doing nothing for your Halloween.

Netflix has a wide variety of new releases for you this season, including the titles listed above, plus “A Cinderella Story,” “London Has Fallen” and “The Uninvited.” With over 50 recently added films and shows, feel free to binge watch Netflix all fall. And, if you don’t have a Netflix just know, “It’d be a lot cooler if you did.”
