Fidel Castro dies at age 90

Cuban political leader Fidel Castro died Nov. 25 after leading his country for 50 years. The reactions to Castro’s death were divided, with some mourning for days on end and others taking part in celebrations. Citizens of Cuba are taking part in an official mourning period that will last until Dec. 4.

Four new elements added to periodic table

Discovered by scientists from Russia, Japan and America, elements Nihonium, Moscovium, Tennessine and Oganesson were added to the Periodic Table of Elements. They will now replace the four placeholder elements ununtrium, ununpentium, ununseptium and ununoctium.

California fire kills 36

A fire in a warehouse was proven to be extremely deadly when 36 people were killed during a gathering in the warehouse’s art studios in Oakland, California. As the list of missing people grows, the police and fire departments continue their search of the dilapidated building.

Pirate Party inducted into Icelandic government

The Pirate Party of Iceland was at the receiving end of a request from its president to create an entirely new government centered around a strong, direct democracy. The Pirates advocate for many societal reforms which are anticipated to become more prevalent now that the party’s representation in Parliament has increased to 10.
