‘Found You’ disappointing, needs to expand

Middle school days, I thought, were over until pop singer and song writer Austin Mahone released his new song “Found You” on Oct. 24th.

The song was a slow laid back love song I fell into. Though the song sounded very auto tuned I loved it anyways. The song is like a pick up from his song “Till I Find You” from his “Secret” album released May 22, 2014. His voice can scale up very high but this song shows his low voice fan girls fall for. Mahone is often seen as the new Justin Bieber but is far from him. Even though he is no Justin Bieber, according to copies of their albums sold, he is still a heartthrob to millions across the world and sold out concerts.

His song “Found You” really brought his “Secret” album together. He quotes small portions from the album in the song answering the question on if he found that one dream girl he wants. Mahone writes like any other teen heartthrob and writes what his fans want: a love song that they can listen to and imagine he is singing it just for them. Comparing this song to Bieber is a hit or miss. Where Bieber writes out of his comfort zone and what he is feeling, Mahone writes in his comfort zone and does not take any risks.

I feel that Mahone is saying he found that girl he has been dreaming of and writing about his journey to find her  in his first three albums, hitting the points of his “Secret” album. The song is extremely laid back, unlike “Secret” but it is a feeling like “wow I am done,” or “I’m glad that’s over with.”

Being a former “Mahomie” I really had a big expectation for this song. I was disappointed in the song a little bit, but only because I wish he would step out of his comfort zone. Song writing is a hit or miss, but you will never know till you take the risk. I would suggest people give the song a listen and if they like it go and listen to Mahone’s “Secret” album to see where this song got its depth.
