MHS JV girls golf improves by 9 over last tournament

Heidi Hansen, Staff Writer

Last Wednesday, Junior Varsity girls golf had a tournament against Salina Central. Manhattan High’s team played at the Stagg Hill Golf Club, playing nine holes and improving along the way.

The girls played the game strong by driving, chipping and putting their way through the competition. The temperature during the event was around 83 degrees fahrenheit, which would’ve been perfect golfing weather, except for it was windy.

“The weather was very windy and effected our play moderately,” Julianna Poe, freshman, said.

The team improved by nine strokes from their last tournament. Overall, Poe improved by 19 strokes, junior Lauren Erickson improved by 18 strokes and freshman Kealyn Lhuillier by 17 strokes.

The J.V. golfers all scored within 25 strokes of each other.

The team is now preparing for their next invitational tournament against Council Grove.
