The Manhattan High girls basketball team beat Emporia 34-23 on Thursday in another defense dominate game. Senior Kia Wilson would lead the team and end up scoring nearly 50 percent of their points, ending the night with 15 total points, going 7/11 from the paint. However offense was not her only contribution as wilson also had 5 deflections.

The team had a rough start allowing Emporia to score six and only managing seven points at the end of the first. That quickly changed through an explosive second and third quarter during which the team would go on 22-8 run.

Senior Haleigh Harper made big contributions on both sides of the ball as well with eight points, six coming from free throws and lead the team in three pointers. The game would be decided on defense which, as usual, was in Manhattan High’s favor. MHS would end the night with 7 steals and 20 deflections.

Manhattan High will begin their post season on Thursday at home where they will be competing in their first round of sub-state.
