The Manhattan High Freshman football team stomped Olathe Northwest Ravens 58-0 during the first game of the season.

Many touchdowns were scored throughout the game. A majority of great plays were played during the second quarter, as four touchdowns were scored and a field goal. This great win made an outstanding kickoff to the season. Some outstanding players such as freshmen Ethan Samenus, Keenan Schartz, Dawson Tajchmann, Braxton Frey and Cole Coonrod were all major players in many important plays.

Samenus, wide receiver and running back, showed off his incredibly quick movements by blasting off the first quarter with an interception and stopping a Northwest Raven from scoring last minute. Schartz, quarterback and defensive back, made multiple touchdowns throughout the second quarter and Tajchmann, running back and defensive back, scored the last couple touchdowns of the game sealing the deal for the win.

According to freshman Anim Issoufou, he and his teammates did well and have improved since the beginning of practices. His favorite play was when he got,”some guy off of a teammate so he could score a touch-down.”

The team will play next  in Topeka on Sept. 23 against Seaman.
