Artist of the week: Zachary Paquette

Lasirra Hines, Entertainment Editor

What instrument do you play?

I play trumpet

Anything that has happened with the group you would consider a win/achievement?

Well we’re getting to play this year so that’s aplus. Unlike some of the other groups, who are like Choir, who has to be really strict about how they sing and how much space is in between all of them, and we have to be careful about how we play in marching band. But with so few of us in jazz, we’re a more intimate group, so we’re able to play.

What got you into playing with Blue Notes?

I’d say probably my section leaders, my freshman and sophomore year. The people that I always looked up to were in it. It’s a really good way to further your musical ability, they told me that. So it kind of piqued my interest.

What’s it like being a senior this year?

It’s kind of crazy, I’ve come a long way as far as my ability level goes. But it’s crazy to know that this is my last year of high school. I plan to keep playing in college
