Choir carols via recording

After COVID-19 and the hybrid schedule have left the choir unable to practice and perform as a group this semester, the group found a unique way to alter their Christmas carol event.

Usually, the chamber choir performs Christmas carols at the tree lighting ceremony. This year, the choir has been forced to change.

“We had each student record themselves singing along to some practice tracks,” senior Josie Summers said.

The recording was a unique experience for the group.

“I think Mr. [Chad] Pape was really excited to have that caroling recording this because of how choir is split with Group A and Group B that we didn’t get to sing together this year,” Summers said.

The recordings allowed the entirety of the Chamber Choir to be able to perform together in a way despite not being able to perform as they normally do.

“Chamber Choir is such a big choir and we like to recognize everybody that made it into it because you have to audition to get in,” Summers said. “So this is a really neat way that we could kind of still hear everybody that was in Chamber Choir.”
