One of the newest cinematic hits — released during spring break — was Zach Snyder’s version of Justice League. Many DC fans have been expecting this for nearly four years- giving fans what they wanted and well worth their wait.

In my opinion, watching Snyder’s cut of Justice League will be worth your time. Its graphics are very detailed, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, it gives the characters more personality and gives you a greater understanding of what the plot is. Despite the movie being over four hours long, Snyder still found a way to keep the film moving with its in-depth scenes. There is never a dull moment to where you will want to pause to take a bathroom break or get your second bowl of popcorn.

Here’s some context behind why Snyder didn’t just film it this way the first time around. Well, the context behind that is Snyder started directing the movie from the start to just under halfway through the movie, but stepped down because of his own personal reasons. To replace his absence in directing, former Avengers director Joss Whedon stepped in to finish directing the movie.

Whedon’s own personal cut split very far away from Snyder’s script and caused many DC fans to express their desire to see Snyder’s original version of the film. So, over spring break, Zach Snyder released his version of Justice League, which had many DC fans swept off their feet.

DC movies in the past have never been the greatest films, but their TV series are very addictive. I feel that Snyder’s cut of this movie definitely made it better than Whedon’s version. Snyder’s cut went much more in depth into everyone’s background and contributions to help win the fight against the main antagonist, Steppenwolf. It also pulled viewers in because of its powerful visuals and action-packed scenes.

While the protagonists Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg defeated Steppenwolf, Snyder’s cut also introduced a bigger, more daunting threat that is soon to arrive to the DC universe. This threat was mentioned several times and actually made an appearance, foreshadowing Darkseid’s return in trying to take back Earth.

Audiences may take this version of Justice League as dark, but while this movie has several scenes involving the death of many past and present warriors, it symbolized how long this fight has been going on for, and how much of a fight heroes have put up to stop past invaders. With Snyder’s cut, it was an instant understanding of how far the Justice League was willing to go to stop Steppenwolf from conquering Earth, just like he had with hundreds of other planets.

Although this version of Justice League is over four hours long, it certainly doesn’t feel that way. Snyder made his cut to where it’s divided into six parts, which helps the film keep moving. Snyder did not add parts into the movie, but just showed the different scenes he would’ve had. Since he changed the majority of the film, the movie was longer.

In my opinion, watching Snyder’s cut of Justice League will be worth your time. Its graphics are very detailed, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, it gives the characters more personality and gives you a greater understanding of what the plot is.
