The Manhattan High girls golf team hosted their home tournament at Stagg Hill Golf Club on Monday, Oct. 4, bringing home third place in the meet with a score of 362.

Manhattan had three girls finish in the top 15. Freshmen Emily Wuggazer and Kaitlyn Lagabed shot 87s, tying for 13th, and junior Lexi Smith took 15th shooting a 90.

“I think we played well,” Wuggazer said. “I putted really well along with hitting my driver. It was better than most days. However, sometimes chipping up to the elevated greens can be tough. I definitely struggle on that and could improve on it before the next meet.”

Senior Lizzy Tauschek and sophomore Rylee Wisdom tied for 27th shooting 98s. Sophomore Jennifer Kim shot a 99, while freshmen Emma Crouch shot a 105 and Ruby Wendt shot a 114.

The team placing was an acceptable finish in Wuggazer’s eyes.

“I’m happy with third,” she said. “There was some really good competition out on the course.”

The team’s next meet will be Regionals on Oct. 11.

“I think if we can go out next Monday and play to our potential we can come out as a top 4 team and make our way to state,” Wuggazer said.
