Addams Family coming soon

The Thespians cast has been working on the production of “The Addams Family,” bouncing back after a delay last semester.

“Currently, we’re working on blocking learning lines, kind of getting a feel for our characters,” senior Chase Glasscock said, “and then we’re starting to transition into working on the general things for a show like sound, lighting and things like that.”

Despite setbacks, the team has been working together to ensure that things get done for the musical.

“When we’re doing [a] production it’s wonderful because you have a bunch of people around you who are super enthusiastic about understanding their parts and working together as a team,” Glasscock said.

The musical is also double cast, where Glasscock will play Gomez alongside senior Victor Eberle. The decision to have a double cast was due to quaratines, as rehearsals involve the cast being close together.

“When you’re very close together, doing lines and rehearsal and things like that, it’s very easy for [COVID-19] spread,” Glasscock said, “and as such, we have a number of people out who are big characters who are just out because they’re quarantined.”

The musical has provided positives, such as it’s unique humor and selection of songs.

“I think that all the songs are going to be really, really good. This show has a very interesting sense of humor. It’s very self aware and so all the songs break the mold very slightly, or in very big ways,” Glasscock said, “and so playing it out and doing the songs on a full theater production is a really interesting experience.”

“The Addams Family” musical will be held in Rezac Auditorium from Feb. 17 through Feb. 20.
