The Scholars Bowl teams’ season came to an end after placing second at State on Feb. 14th.

“It was a higher level of competition,” said senior Grace Higgins.

The team had some eventful weeks before making Runner-up at State, including winning Regionals and the Centennial League.  Math teacher Ted Dawdy and Social Studies teacher Tim Ekart has coached the team, helping the team up to the end of the season.

The team, who consisted of freshman Patrick Fu, juniors Julius Neumann and Vinny Sun, and seniors Abrar Nasser and Grace Higgins, competed well, going 5-2 in the first round and moving on as part of the top four teams, then winning against Washburn Rural in the Semifinals but then ultimately losing to losing to Blue Valley North in the finals to place second overall.

“ I [liked] making it to the finals,” junior Julius Neumann said, “that was really exciting because all the matches [were] super close.”

Prior to placing second at State the team won first at Regionals which had advanced them to the State Tournament and in the year before got second at Wichita East and the third the year before that.
