The Manhattan High Junior Varsity volleyball team came away from their home J.V. Invitational tournament without any wins. Free State High School, St. Thomas Aquinas, Hayden High, Washburn Rural and Shawnee Heights came to MHS for the tournament on Sept. 17.

“I think the girls showed a lot of fight there at the end,” coach Taylor Sleep said. “I’m proud of the effort they showed there.”

The team scored 22-25 and 19-25 against Shawnee Heights, 13-25 and 22-25 against Washburn Rural, 16-25 and 11-25 against St. Thomas Aquinas, 18-25, 25-14, and 14-16 against Hayden High, and 25-22, 22-25, and 10-15 against Free State.

“I think that tournaments like this where we have good competition is really good for them,” Sleep said. The more exposure we get to these tough teams really helps to improve their drive and their want to win.”
