Silver Trophy stays in Manhattan

The Silver Trophy was returned to its spot in the trophy case last Friday after the undefeated 5-0 Manhattan High Indians took on their rivals the 4-1 Junction City Blue Jays.

Motivated to take the trophy home for the second year, MHS shut out JC in the first half and led 24-0 at the half. Manhattan refused to slow down on offense or defense, allowing JC just one touchdown and winning 44-7.

This win improved Manhattan to 6-0 remaining in the top spot in the Kansas rankings. Beating the rival Blue Jays made the win even sweeter.

“This game means a lot to everyone and it’s always a big game” senior Jaxon Bowles said. “We all played our part in the game and that’s what made us the better team out there.”

Manhattan’s next game is Homecoming on Friday vs. Lansing as they look to keep their undefeated season alive
