Wrestling fights through season opener

The Manhattan High wrestling team had their first meets last Thursday and Saturday.

“We looked really good but slightly disappointing, but also we just came back from the state football game so we didn’t have all of our players,” senior Issac Sinks said. “I think that we will be a lot better when they come back and I think that we should be a top 10 team in 6A this season.”

Freshman Caeleb Hutchinson made it to the finals match in the 106 weight class but lost to finish in second place.

“I can see us going far this year once we get everyone up to weight and have everyone back and healthy and get the underclassmen prepared for High School wrestling,” Sinks said. “I don’t think we will be as good this year but I see us being better in the next two years with all the underclassmen joining.”

Manhattan’s next meet is Dec. 8 at home.
