Bowles recognized for football season

After an outstanding season and winning the state championship, senior wide receiver Jaxon Bowles has been chosen as The Mentor’s November/December Athlete of the Month.

Bowles has played all four of his high school years here in Manhattan and finished his high school career with an outstanding 400 receiving yards on 22 receptions and recorded 12 solo tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and 36 total tackles on the year.

“A big part here on the football team is, you know, staying positive through everything, as there’s a lot of downs in football, but just motivating everyone else,” Bowles said.

Besides the stats this year, Bowles has shown a lot of great leadership toward his teammates and great sportsmanship throughout the season.

“You know, the teams played a huge role in my life,” Bowles said “I know I spend probably about half of my time at the high school doing football-related things, so it’s a really big deal.”
