Manhattan wins at the buzzer

Manhattan boys basketball calls game at the buzzer at Washburn Rural on friday in a hard fought game by Manhattan as they win 60-58. Manhattan and Washburn would fight back in fourth the whole first half as MHS would hold a 25-24 lead at halftime. MHS would have a slow quarter and Washburn would capitalize as they held a six point lead going into the fourth. Manhattan would go down by eight with six minutes left but would quickly erase their deficit to tie the game at 58 with 1:19 left in the game. Washburn could not capitalize on two shots and would step out of bounds to give MHS the chance to win with five seconds left. Senior Dre Delort would drive down the court for a layup with no time left to secure their win at the buzzer,

“I knew I had to get down there fast then i saw the lane open and I drove down to take the layup and I was in shock after I made it,” senior Dre Delort said on his game winning layup

Manhattans next game will be on Thursday at Shawnee Mission East on January 19 and at home vs Emporia on January 24.
