Asian Student Union (ASU) members had a Lunar New Year themed potluck on Jan. 28 at the Korean Church of Manhattan. The event lasted from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.

“The potluck took about a few weeks to plan,” Co-President Minhee Koo, senior, said. “We made a poll on GroupMe but we still couldn’t decide on a date. After the poll results came back it was an easy decision and all that was left was for people to sign up to bring food and utensils.”

For ASU a potluck event is something that works best for the club to get members together to have a great time.

“[Having a potluck] creates a lot of engagement and a lot of people attend [ASU] potlucks,” Koo said. “The last potluck a lot of people enjoyed.”

At the ASU hosted event the food consisted of sweet sticky rice, fried rice, noodles, brownies and cookies. The members played basketball, four square and tag.

“I had a great time hanging out with all my friends,” ASU member Angie Chae, sophomore, said. “I have been really busy over the weekends but this weekend was really nice for me.”

ASU hopes to collaborate with Kansas State University ASU for future events.
