NHS finishes school year strong

The Manhattan High School National Honors Society is preparing for upcoming service events and next year’s group of NHS members as the semester comes to a close.

NHS will host the annual prom shop, available to all students, on March. 30 and 31 during both lunch periods.

“In the [Alumni Conference Room] we will have a shop and people can come in and get free prom dresses,” NHS president Carys Carver said. “There’s no charge and students can try [the dresses] on.”

Prom dress donations can be delivered to NHS sponsor Robin Mall.

In preparation for the 2023-2024 school year, current NHS members will distribute congratulatory letters to this year’s class of inductees on Wednesday during advisory.

According to Carver, officer elections will take place before the induction ceremony in late April. Carver encourages NHS students to run for office in the upcoming elections.

“Being an NHS officer allows you to not only be involved in the school but also in the community,” Carver said. “It is important to serve others and I feel like NHS gives students that opportunity.”
