Shots fired near MHS

Reports of shots fired were made to the Riley County Police Department this evening, to a real incident involving one victim at the Sunset Zoo parking lot.

According to an email to staff, students and parents from Principal Michael Dorst, the report occurred around 5:10 p.m. Students practicing sports were immediately evacuated inside Manhattan High School. 

According to a post on RCPD’s Facebook, the shooting was an isolated incident and the RCPD confirmed that there is no threat to the public and students should be safe to attend school tomorrow. RCPD will release more information on their social media accounts as it becomes available.
