The Fees of Concert Tickets Need to go Down

The+Fees+of+Concert+Tickets+Need+to+go+Down

When’s the last time you wanted to go to a concert? Think about the prices before and after checkout. It was probably less expensive before checkout, but adding a whole bunch of extra fees right before the checkout.  Extra fees for concerts shouldn’t be so expensive, especially since some aren’t about seeing artists perform.

In 1991, while at the height of their popularity and cultural relevance, a “Guns N’ Roses” ticket was $20. In 2023, while on their “World Tour ‘23” tour, an average ticket price was $281. Now granted, the 2023 tour was with three members of the classic lineup, but they’d also been back together since 2016. But that is still a large price increase. And the average probably doesn’t even include the extra fees.

In 1983 a “Paul McCartney & Wings” concert ticket was $32.50, In 2023 on his “Got Back” tour a ticket was $204 or more. Now, sure inflation plays a part, but also companies like Ticketmaster are trying to get as much as they can.

On the side of the extra fees, they aren’t usually related to the concert. Shipping and handling fees hardly even make sense when you think about how everything is digital now. Sure, a couple of extra dollars or something so that the company can get some more money. But when the extra fees almost double the price of the ticket…

People should realize that these extra fees are just getting extra money out of you that you didn’t sign up for. Now though, with Joe Biden’s Ticketmaster thing this will all work better.
