The Indians girls soccer team stomped the Wichita Northwest Grizzlies 5-1 on May 6 at Bishop Stadium.
“It’s really important for us, with our current record, that we’re finishing the season strong,” sophomore Ava Connell said.
At 13 minutes into the game, freshman Hannah Boggs slid into the net, scoring the Indians first goal. The Indians found the goal two more times in the half and glided into the second half up 3-1.
“I think we moved the ball around really well,” Connell said. “We were making good runs, running off the ball, finding the easy pass, instead of forcing, which gave us a lot of offensive opportunities.”
In the second half, Connell first scored with 24:36 remaining.
“I was on the corner. I always go up to cross the ball and it was a great ball by Avarye [Meeker, freshman] and I just jumped up and headed it over the goalie,” Connell said.
The Indians left the Grizzlies scoreless in the second half.
“I think just keeping our shape really helped, and I feel like we were moving off the ball a lot better,” senior Olivia Stuckwisch said. “So you’re able to pass up the field and keep on their side.”
