As the school days fly by, the last major school wide event of the year inches closer. This year’s prom, themed “Midnight in Manhattan,” is set for April 18. The evening will off at 8:45 p.m for the Promenade followed by the dance at 9 p.m.
For the Junior Student Council, the team who plans and organizes the whole event, Prom represents months of meticulous work. Vice President Katelynn Sunnenberg played a large role on the decorations and accessories committee for this event, which will have a theme unlike past years.
“Elegance. Not necessarily whimsical like last prom,” Sunnenberg said, describing the vision for the night.
She helped select everything from sashes to invitations, as event planning was highly collaborative and involved. When students arrive, they can look forward to custom photo backdrops and “groovy jams from our DJ,” Sunnenberg said.
After weeks of hard work and “the amount of hot glue burns” sustained by the team, getting ready to see the event come to life feels “so rewarding,” Sunnenberg said.
Ultimately, Sunnenberg hopes students will enjoy every aspect of the night.
“I want them to feel relaxed near the food tables, goofy at the photo backdrop and hype on the dance floor,” Sunnenberg said.
