Anime Club provides relaxing atmosphere

Don’t you love being in a place where you can just relax with no peer pressure, be yourself and not be judged for acting the way you act or liking the things you like? According to some of the officers of the Anime Club, that’s what the club is all about.

“Anime Club is not a club that you should join just because it is full of anime geeks, but because it’s a place where people who don’t really fit anywhere could fit,” junior Faithlyn Hoofard, vice president of the anime club, said. “We’re just not judgemental, and we’re nice to everyone so they feel like they belong.”

The students that are in the club have lots of plans for the year that they are really excited about.

“We want to do a cosplay fashion show and also help the soup kitchen,” Hoofard said. We have lots of ideas. I’m not sure we’re going to do all of them but we’re going to do as many as we can,”

The club also wants to go to the Naka-Kon, a convention where they would learn about Japanese animation and the influence that anime has around the globe. Anime Club’s president, Erin Heller, is really thrilled about this year’s meetings.

“In our meeting we would learn a lot about the Japanese culture, how they make the art and the different styles of anime,” Heller said.

They can’t wait to start working and having fun with everyone.

“My favorite part [of the club] is seeing everyone being happy doing what we do,” Heller said.

This Wednesday after school, Anime Club will have their kick off party. It will start at 3 p.m. and it will end at 4:30 p.m. due to parent teacher conferences. Anyone who has signed up for the club is welcomed to go. Anyone interested in signing up can also join the party.
