This week, Key Club did their first service project.

“We appear to be making pillows for mastectomy patients at the hospital,” senior Josh Schwartz said.

They used the money they made from their Peanut Days fundraisers to buy fabric for the pillows.

“Rachel and Andrea got supplies which included fabric, stuffing, ribbon and Velcro,” senior Caitlin Rusk said.

The pillows were shaped like hearts to fit underneath the patients’ arms.

“We had to trace the patterns that the hospital gave us. We cut the patterns out, pinned them, cut ribbons for straps and sewed them all together,” Rusk said.

The pillows will be given to the patients after the undergone a mastectomy surgery.

“We sewed the pillows with thoughtful creative designs to brighten up and add a little color and happiness to the patients’ days,” senior Shelby Barron said.
