The Manhattan High girls golf team took their last victory of the season before Regionals at Manhattan Country Club yesterday afternoon. They placed first in the invitational with a score of 386.

“We didn’t play the same course that we practiced on, and I never want to say that we have the advantage somewhere. We definitely knew that we could all do better,” sophomore Delaney Wisdom said.

Washburn Rural placed second with a score of 404. Three of the six Lady Indians won a medal yesterday. Sophomores Macie Myers placed second with a individual score of 83; Wisdom placed fifth with a score of 96; Bella Hager placed ninth with a score of 100; and Lydia Fry scored a 108. Freshmen Elise Jackson scored a 107 and Camy McAtee scored a 117. The Lady Indians’ average score of the last five games is 367.4.

“The surprise of the day came from sophomore Bella Hager who shot a 100 to contribute to the team score for the first time in her career,” coach Chris George said. “She played her best round of the year today. She played fairly consistent, relative to the field, and hit the ball well. I was real happy for her to come up and get an individual medal.”

Next Monday, the Lady Indians will compete in 6A Regionals at Clapp Park in Wichita.
