J.V. and freshmen volleyball win league

Two weeks ago, the Manhattan High Junior Varsity volleyball team traveled to Washburn to compete in the League tournament. They competed in seven games that day and ultimately faced Shawnee Heights in a match for first.

“We thought we’d play Washburn in the championship, being that they were our rivals all season,” sophomore libero Raegan Wilcoxson said. “We ended up playing Shawnee Heights for the second time that day for the championship.”

Beating Shawnee Heights earlier that day did not make the girls let their guards down.

“We all played our hearts out and left it all out on the court,” Wilcoxson said. “We played with a point-by-point mindset and worked as a team.”

At the end of the match, the girls beat Shawnee Heights and won the title of league champions.

“We couldn’t be happier to be league champions,” Wilcoxson said.

The Freshman volleyball team also played a league tournament two weeks ago. Similar to the Junior Varsity team, the Freshman team came out on top and won their league championship.
