The excessive wind was nothing that the Manhattan High girls golf team could not handle at the 6A State golf meet this week.

The Lady Indians placed fourth of 12 teams with a team score of 374. Shawnee Mission East won State with a score of 341, followed by Washburn Rural with a score of 363 and Blue Valley West with a score of 373.

Individually Sophomores Macie Myers placed fifth with a score of 81; Lydia Fry placed 12th with a score 89; Delaney Wisdom scored a 108 and Bella Hager scored a 113. Freshmen Elise Jackson scored a 98 and Camy McAtee scored a 106.

“I was really pleased with our effort and mental approach today,” head coach Chris George said via e-mail. “For the most part, I felt that for the first time all year we played like seasoned golfers, rather than a group of nervous underclassmen. They really did a good job of battling through the tough times that every golfer had today.”
