Spanish Club plants daffodils

The Spanish Club dug, fertilized and planted daffodils in the north courtyard last Wednesday as a service project, with the hope the flower’s growth would represent the club and what they stand for.

Lindsy Clark, co-sponsor for the club, enjoys gardening and working with flowers. She said the students chose the on-going project so they can see progress in the future.

“We are wanting to do it each year and over the years and kind of see how the flowers are growing and it’s also a visual representation of our club and so we thought it would be a neat way to leave our mark on the school,” she said.

Ten members of the club planted about 50 daffodils in 45 minutes after school. For the students, the service project was a way for them to do something together and get to know each other better.

“It was a good way to bond,” club member Brooke Henry, senior, said.

“The kids were really enthusiastic about digging the holes, putting the bulbs in, and they were really good about doing it,” co-sponsor Olivia Leon-Toomajian said. “We look forward to see them in the spring.”
