What do you play?

I play cello bass and guitar but cello is my favorite. I think it sounds the best. It has a really big range. It’s a really versatile instrument and it can be played in different genres.

What does music do for you?

It takes up a lot of my time. There’s no point to anything, which is why music is fun. It’s like Nihilism embodied in sound. Music makes my life a little more tolerable. So life is pretty much pain and the illusion of the self. And music helps remedy one of those with the other.

Music is cool because it allows you to take the darkest part of life and sublimate it into something beautiful through music.

How long have you been paying music and what got you started?

I’ve been playing music for nine years.

When I was in third grade we had this thing called Music Memories where we listened to classical music. We listened to “Cello Suite no. 1 in g major prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach and I was like ‘wow that sounds really nice what is that?” and my dad said it was a cello and I decided I wanted to play it, and here we are.

What got you started in bass?

I wanted to be in a punk band in middle school and I needed to learn an instrument to do that so I just learned bass.

Are you going to pursue music after high school?

It would be cool to play music for people outside of my room, but I probably won’t be a professional out of high school. In college I will probably join ensembles.
