Students at Manhattan High School will have a few new courses to choose from in next year’s enrollment.

There is good news for students who are taking automotives classes. Now they have the chance to enroll in a few different new classes for next year.

“We restructured our auto program and we are adding additional classes. We will offer those next year, although one of them will maybe be a year after that,” Debra Kidd, director of Career and Technical Education, said. “We have cabinetmaking and furniture design is adding an occupational safety hazard class so there will be safety element to that.”

The auto classes offer credit at Manhattan Area Technical College, and all of those classes are of no cost to the students because they are paid for via Senate Bill 155.

Apart from the new technical classes there is only a new advanced algebra class. There have not been confirmed any new teachers for theses classes.

“We don’t have a ton of new course options for next year, there’s just a few,” college and careers counselor Katie Ball said, ”but the students will get a list of the courses when they go through enrollment so they can see if they’re interested.”
