The Elective Fair will be held this Thursday for all of the eighth -11th grade students and parents who want to know what electives have to offer at Manhattan High School.

“Departments that have elective offerings, so those [that] are not required for graduation classes, are having tables to exhibit what they do within their classes or within their department,” Career and Technical Education director Debra Kidd said.

In previous years, the event was held down at the ninth grade center where it was known as “The Career and Elective Expo.” This year it will be held at West campus to become more accessible to families at MHS.

“We have never really have had individuals ninth to be 10th, 10th to be 11th, 11th to be 12th with the opportunities, so we actually brought that event which used to be hosted down at the ninth grade center up to the West campus,” chairman of the Counseling Department Tony Wichmann said.

Starting at 6:30 and ending at 8 p.m. on Thursday, parents and their children can come in and talk with elective teachers about their classes and what they have to offer.

“I think it is a great opportunity to showcase what’s going on,” Kidd said.
